The World

And thee laid right hand upon me, saying unto me, I am thee that liveth and was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death, beause thou hast kept the word of my patience

I also will keep thee from the hour of temtation,in which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth.

There is no need to acquaint ourselves with the life story of mother Teresa. It is well documented."Darkness"of an interior kind, and even a sort of "atheism,"are not inimical to faith, and certainly not to christianity.

"The dark night of the spirit;"time honored phrases that come from the writings of the sixteenth-century spanish Carmelite mystic St.John of the cross remind us that the way of christian faith is not one of light only, but also of obscurity.

It is the pain of melancholy, a state of mind verging on despair. To think of God not being God-God not existing" is to experience the challenge to the intellect, of skepticism. what follows are interlaced reflections on both melancholy and skepticism, and finally reflections on the need with respect to these, for genuine human friendship in the life of faith most of us live most our life on the periphery of our being, not from our depths.

Awakening and transforming involve movement fromthe circumference to the center of our being, meditation is a doorway to our center. This means that meditiation is far more than a way of trying to still ourselves. It is a way of opening our self so that we can be found by our center-by the spirit of God.

Even if you are a nonbeliever you can try to improve or train the mind, many problems around us are a mental projection of certain negative or unpleasant things. This is why training the mind is imperative and should not be considered a religious matter.

Are you happy? This clarion call of the American Revolution put the pursuit of happiness right up there with the rights to life and liberty.

America's interests in achieving "full measure of happiness"can be said to be increasing and expanding. Colleges ofter new courses on happiness that are invariably well attended.

This is what I prayed for today. "Living God, I thank you for soverign control over life's events on behalf of your dear servant I ask that you would give peace.Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
