Ecclesiastes 2:3-7

3 I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly—my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was good for people to do under the heavens during the few days of their lives.

4 I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards. 5 I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. 6 I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees. 7 I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.

Psalm 20:6-7

6 Now I know that the Lord will help his anointed;
    he will answer him from his holy heaven
    with mighty victories by his right hand.
7 Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses,
    but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.

Proverbs 3:3-4

3 Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
    bind them round your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favour and good repute
    in the sight of God and of people.

1 Corinthians 11:24-26

24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for[a]you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ 25 In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
