Opening Prayer-
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of the Sabbath. We thank You for this sacred time to rest, reflect, and rejoice in Your presence. Fill us with Your wisdom as we gather to hear Your Word. May this story inspire us to honor You with our lives and strengthen our walk with You. In Yahusha's holy name, we pray. Halaleyah.
The Call to Rest
The Brown family lived in the heart of a bustling city, where the pace of life often left little room for reflection. One evening, as the family gathered for dinner, young Eric, their teenage grandson, asked, "Why do we rush so much, Grandpa? Does Yahusha want us to live this way?"
B. Brown, the family matriarch, smiled and opened the Halaleyah Scriptures. She read aloud from Shemoth (Exodus) 20:8-10-
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of Yahusha your Elohim. In it you do no work..."
As her voice filled the room, a quiet reverence descended upon the family. B. Brown continued, "This command is not a burden but a blessing. It’s a gift from our Creator, a time to pause and delight in Him."
B. Brown explained to her family the importance of the Sabbath, reading from YeshaYahu (Isaiah) 58:13-14-
"If you turn your foot away from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day, and shall call the Sabbath a delight, the set-apart day of Yahusha esteemed, and shall esteem it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in Yahusha."
The family reflected on how honoring the Sabbath was a way to align their hearts with Yahusha’s desires.
The Sacred Day
As the sun set on the evening, of the six day the family gathered in the living room. A candle was lit, and B. Brown prayed*
"Blessed are You, Yahusha Elohim, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with Your commandments and given us the gift of Sabbath rest."
Eric read from Tehillim (Psalms) 92:1-2-
"It is good to give thanks to Yahusha and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving-kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night."
The family sang songs of praise, shared testimonies of Yahusha’s goodness, and enjoyed a meal filled with laughter and love. They spent the day in rest, reflection, and rejoicing.
The Legacy of Rest
As the Sabbath drew to a close, B. Brown shared a story from her own childhood. "When we honor the Sabbath, we honor the One who created us. This day is a foretaste of the eternal rest we will one day enjoy in Yahusha’s presence."
She read from Ibrim (Hebrews) 4:9-10-
"So there remains a Sabbath-keeping for the people of Elohim. For the one, having entered into His rest, has himself also rested from his works, as Elohim rested from His own."
The family resolved to make the Sabbath a cornerstone of their lives, passing down this holy practice to future generations.
Closing Prayer-
Father Yahusha, we thank You for the gift of the Sabbath and the opportunity to rest in Your presence. May this story inspire all who hear it to embrace the sacred rest You have commanded and blessed. Help us to delight in You and honor You with our lives. Strengthen our families to walk in Your ways and leave a legacy of faithfulness. In Yahusha’s name, we pray. Halaleyah.
May WBJMinistries continue to shine as a beacon of light, leading others to the joy and peace of the Sabbath!
