The Butterflies
"...For I know the plans I have for you," declares the lord, " plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 instead of revealing some sort of beatific vision or spiritual technique, Jesus taught his followers to look squarely at the miseries of humanity-indeed,to see him right there,in "the least of these," the poor, the naked, the sick, the imprisioned, the persecuted, and so on,and to respond to these in acts of loving care. Suffering has causes and conditions and we do not want to suffer. The origin of suffering teaches us to identify suffering as well as it's causes at different levels. Our goal is happiness. Happiness can be temporary or permanent. Permanent happiness is more important. The purpose of our life is happiness. It must be achieved through our own inner development. The ultimate goal of life is to celebrate a communal feast of love and happiness with God's beloved community forever. The energy of mutual loving and relating generates creativity and overflows into creation. God is a never-ending fountain of creativity, a wellspring of novelty and surprise.
