📌On my way to the Manhattan Borough President’s Office today, I turned the corner and saw EMTs roll over what looked like a limp, frail woman. He checked her pulse. He checked it again, She tried to move but was too weak. Then he casually walked to the ambulance. No rush. No urgency. I thought, an unconscious body needs oxygen to the brain immediately. Why does it feel like trained professionals are moving slower than concerned strangers? Weeks ago, I saw the same thing on the subway. An elderly woman collapsed and the energy was... Action with concern. I expected more from trained professionals. We used to have a saying, more of a statement of purpose before "Make America great again" It was A phrase~that defined us!

It meant dignity, structure, compassion, strength, freedom, and action.
It meant doing what is right even when no one’s watching. Doing it from the heart. And Love for human life that built this nation
Anyway! I kept going, dealing with an ongoing NYCHA issue. I was told to resubmit docs because the scanned PDFs weren’t clear. I offered a solution; "While I resend them, could someone just call housing management to get the process started?" He said, "Once I receive it, I will follow up." But let’s be real. If you serve the public, you should already know who your people need help from. And they should know you.
Then I went to the management office to drop off a letter about the issue, just be proactive. The front desk secretary told me to come back after lunch. I asked, “Can you just take my letter and give me a receipt?” She said no. Why not just post a sign saying you are on a lunch break? Why the barriers for basic accountability? Later, I picked up a prescription for someone. I have gotten it for years. And a crucial item was missing. I had to ask for it. Again, that same energy; some people behave as if they are doing you a favor and not their job.
I passed the State Office Building and saw flags of other countries flying alongside the U.S. flag. I believe in diversity. I believe in inclusion. But I also believe this country already has a foundation that includes everyone; civil rights, human rights, tenant protections, disability access, consumer advocacy. The American flag stands for that. Let’s not weaken our symbol in an attempt to validate what we already legally uphold.

However let us not act like the immigration crisis just started. This system has been broken through six presidencies. Now it’s mopping time. We ignored the spill long enough. We must turn to order, urgency, organization and principles. Because right now, systems are going rogue. Not from lack of money, but from lack of mission.
From EMTs to housing, pharmacies to policy. We must hold systems accountable. This is not just bureaucracy. This is social justice. Cultural anthropology. Geography in motion.
📣 We are better than this. America is one of the best countries on the planet. This is not criticism this is recognition!
