Who's Really in Charge? A Lesson in Trust and Surrender

Who’s the Boss? ~ Learning Surrender in a Stubborn World

๐Ÿ”น Scripture Foundation

{Mishlฤ•y} ~Proverbs 3:5-6 (HalleluYah Scriptures)

> "Trust in YHWH with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight."

๐Ÿ”น ๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ—ฃ️Have you ever watched a dachshund try to run the house? They are small, long, and stubborn,yet somehow they carry themselves like they are kings and queens. That is the energy of today’s message; “I'm the boss around here!”… or so we think. But who is really in control?๐Ÿ”น Symbolism Story The Dachshund and the Note๐Ÿ“

There was a little dachshund named Duke. Every morning, Duke stood tall, holding a note in his tiny paw that read;
“I’m the boss around here!” He barked orders, guarded his chew toys, and gave the side-eye to anyone near his food bowl. Yet behind the scenes, it was his owner who fed him, bathed him, and protected him from traffic when he dashed into the street.

One day, Duke ran off during a storm. Frightened and lost, his tough attitude faded. In the rain, the note crumpled in his paw. Then he saw a familiar hand reach down. It was his owner, calling gently;
“Come home.” At that moment, Duke understood; being boss does not mean being alone. It means knowing who truly leads, and trusting them.๐Ÿ”น Geography Where Are You Headed Without Direction?⬆️

Just like Duke lost his way, we too drift when we try to lead ourselves. The maps of ancient Israel show how wandering in circles happened when people ignored Yah's voice. We are spiritual travelers, however without a Guide, we get lost. In many global cultures, whether among the Maasai of Kenya or the Sรกmi of Northern Europe, tribal elders and shepherds lead with wisdom. The terrain may be harsh, still the people follow, not because they are weak, nevertheless because they trust.

๐Ÿ”น Anthropology; The Illusion of control ๐Ÿ›‚ In anthropology, we find that cultures develop leaders not just for order though for survival. Yet modern society promotes hyper-individualism. Like Duke, we carry signs that say, “I’m the boss,” nonetheless our communities break down when nobody listens to a Higher Voice. What happens to a tribe when each member decides their way is best? Division, chaos, and collapse. The Creator designed us for submission to righteous order. Not domination, nevertheless alignment with His will.

๐Ÿ”น Applied Statistics; The Outcomes of Self-Rule๐Ÿคณ๐ŸผSurveys show that people who practice spiritual surrender and prayer have lower anxiety and better mental health. A 2023 Pew Research study found that communities centered on faith-based accountability report greater stability and lower stress during crisis. Trying to be the “boss” statistically leads to burnout. Surrender to YHWH brings peace.

๐Ÿ”น Law;๐ŸŽ‘ Who Has the Rightful Authority? In earthly courts, a judge has authority to settle disputes. Not because they are popular, but because of lawful appointment. The Torah teaches us that YHWH is Judge, Lawgiver, and King Yeshayahu -(Isaiah 33:22).

When we declare, “I’m the boss,” we deny the rightful reign of our Creator. That is not just disobedience, it is rebellion.

๐Ÿ”น Sociology What Happens When We All Want to Be in Charge? In urban sociology, researchers have studied what happens when leadership breaks down in a home or community. It leads to;

Miscommunication

Power struggles

Unsafe environments

The same applies spiritually. When believers reject discipline, churches fracture. When parents yield control to children out of fear, homes collapse. But when humility leads, the people flourish.

๐Ÿ”น Spiritual Message; Letting YHWH Lead. Duke the dachshund is funny. But how many of us are holding a sign to the Most High that says
“I’m the boss around here”?

It is time to lay that sign down. Let the One who created the stars, who opened the sea, who raised the dead,be the One who orders your steps. Because when He’s the boss, your path gets straighter.
And
๐Ÿ”น Closing Word

You don’t have to lead yourself anymore.
Put down the note.
Lift up your hands.
And say
“YHWH, you are the Boss around here.”
